Disease prevention and management programs

Our focus is to identify and assess health risks, develop and test intervention processes aimed at reducing harmful exposures, disease onset and disease progression to alleviate the health status of our clients.

We create awareness on actions that avoid the manifestation of diseases. These include the provision of information on behavioural and medical health risks, and measures to decrease them. Examples are nutritional and food supplementation, oral and dental hygiene education, clinical preventive services such as immunization and vaccination.

We encourage regular checkups to ensure early detection of diseases thereby improving the chances for positive health outcomes. These include evidence and population-based screening programs, provision of screening tests for early disease detection and taking actions to control risk factors.

We promote better quality of life for those living with disease. These include rehabilitation, disease management programmes, and support for patients with an established disease to minimise residual disabilities and complications.

We also take actions to avoid over-medicalisation of patients, protecting them from unnecessary interventions and suggesting ethical alternatives.

Our strategies

Our strategies for disease prevention, and management programs include:

  • Communication: Creating awareness about healthy behaviours for the public through public service announcements, health fairs, mass media campaigns, and newsletters.
  • Education: Engaging and empowering individuals and communities to choose healthy behaviours. through health education, trainings, and support groups.
  • Focus on root cause: Addressing and preventing the root causes of ill-health, rather than focusing on treatment and cure.
  • Policy, Systems, and Environment: Creating awareness on laws, rules, and regulations (policy), economic, social, or physical environments, to encourage, make available and enable healthy choices.

This is to reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases and other health issues.
